Ready, Set, Grow!
Start Your Spring Garden This Fall
"Ready, Set, GROW! Waking Up Your Atlanta Garden" is a two-hour, beginner-friendly workshop on fall prep for a stronger spring harvest. Participants will learn to build a raised bed, improve red clay soil, use cover crops and mulch over winter, plant bulbs for early-spring color, and plan a spring kitchen garden. Attendees will build a "lasagna" layer bed, test soil, and take home garlic bulbs and a garden checklist.
With Atlanta's first frost arriving in mid-November, fall is the ideal time to prepare both the soil and the plan for spring. The workshop pairs practical, low-cost fixes for the red clay many local gardeners struggle with and hands-on guidance for designing a kitchen garden, choosing plants, and planting bulbs and garlic for an early start.

Green Time All Winter: Grow Food Indoors Until Spring
Grow Food Indoors with Hydroponics
When the garden beds go quiet for winter, your kitchen counter doesn’t have to!
With seeds, a glass mason jar, some water, and the right nutrients, you can grow fresh microgreens, baby greens, and herbs indoors all season long. No soil, compost, or pumps required.
Join us at Oakhurst Garden on November 12 for a Learn Wylde workshop on growing food indoors using hydroponics. You’ll learn the Kratky method, a beginner-friendly, “set it and forget it” approach that allows plants to grow in a still reservoir of nutrient-rich water.
I will walk you through setting up your own simple hydroponic growing system, from choosing a grow medium to mixing nutrients and balancing pH. You’ll discover which plants thrive indoors and which are better left to the garden.
We’ll also explore common challenges, such as algae growth, leggy seedlings, and struggling roots, and how to prevent or correct them so you can keep harvesting until it’s time to plant outside again in spring.
Book a 60-Minute Garden Consultation — $200
I'll walk your property with you and read what's already there — sun, soil, slope, water — while we talk through what you actually want to be eating. You'll leave with a hand-drawn sketch of where the beds go and why, and a written plan in your inbox within 48 hours: what to plant, when to plant it on Atlanta's calendar, and what to fix first. Whether you build it yourself or hire me to build it, you'll know exactly what you're building.
